Super Smash Bros. Won’t Feature Ghirahim as a Playable Fighter, But an Assist Trophy

By   /   Aug 21, 2014

Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed Lord Ghirahim’s presence in Super Smash Bros. – not as a playable fighter, but a mere assist trophy.

The confirmation comes through Sakurai’s Pic of the Day which can be seen below:

Pic of the day. ‘No, I’ll just beat you within an inch of your life!’ Demon Lord Ghirahim makes an appearance in Smash Bros!! He’s an Assist Trophy, so he could conceivably back up Link, too.

Lord Ghirahim

Ghirahim is one of the main villains in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword which was released back in 2011. It is unclear how he will assist in battle, but I hope he’ll make good use of his abnormally long tongue.

Previously, Lord Ghirahim was confirmed to be included as a playable character in Dynasty Warriors and Legend of Zelda cross-over, Hyrule Warriors which lead to many fans believing that he will most certainly make it to Super Smash Bros. as a playable fighter. A moment of silence for all the shattered dreams!

Super Smash Bros. is scheduled to launch for Nintendo 3DS in Japan on Sept. 13 and in North America and Europe on Oct. 3 this year. As for the Wii U version, Nintendo is reported to target this holiday season, but there is no concrete release date.
