The Evil Within Gets Over an Hour of New Gameplay Footage

Bethesda Softworks has released a new video on their YouTube page, showcasing over an hour of gameplay footage from their upcoming survival horror title under development by Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within. The footage is from the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

The footage focuses on gameplay elements such as combat and stealth along with mechanics of various weapons like shotgun, revolver and axe.

The gameplay shows the protagonist, Detective Sebastian Castellanos in a huge abandoned mansion trying to uncover some kind of an evil force haunting the area.

Throughout the video, Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines (yes he is the one playing it) will encounter various ‘monsters’ that need killing while avoiding Rubik, the main antagonist. As shown in previous videos, burning dead bodies is heavily emphasized upon in order to make sure they are really dead.

Scavenging for ammo and supplies (including med kits) plays a huge part in the game in order to ensure player survival and prepare Sebastian for different encounters that could be waiting around the very next corner of the hallway he is walking through.

From the looks of the video, the game doesn’t really feel very scary (more like a few jump scares thrown in here and there) however, that can be a good thing for some players. The campaign is rumored to be around 15 hours long.

The Evil Within is set to be released on October 14th in US for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
