Mega Slowbro Revealed in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Trailer

By   /   Aug 17, 2014

A new video released during the 2014 Pokemon World Championships in Washington, DC introduces us to the Mega-Evolved form of Slowbro in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Slowbro has been making an appearance in the Pokemon series since the very first games. He’s a water and psychic-type Pokemon and also an evolved form of Slowpoke. Except for a Shellder that’s latched onto his tail, Slowbro looks exactly like Slowpoke.

When evolved into his Mega form, Slowbro ditches the Shellder from his tail and instead wears it as a suit of armor. The evolution helps boost the Pokemon’s defense stats significantly, while the new shell armor prevents enemies from landing critical hits. Additionally Mega Slowbro has his own Special Attack.

You can watch him do battle in the video above. It should give you more clarification on what Mega Slowbro is capable of in battle.

Mega Evolutions were introduced in Pokemon X and Y and will be returning with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Pokemon trainers can use special items called Mega Stones to transform their critters into more powerful versions but this only lasts until the end of the battle. Afterwards these Mega Pokemon will revert to their original forms. Mega Stones don’t get used up each time they’re activated so they can be activated in more than one battle.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is scheduled for release on the 3DS on November 21.
