Shadowgate Trailer Displays Many Dumb Ways To Die
In an original take to promote their adventure, developer Zojoi has released a trailer for Shadowgate that showcases dumb ways to die, so many dumb ways to die. Choose wisely or face the consequences.
Death in the clip comes at the hand of a few interactive sceneries. For instance, a fireball is emitted from a dark cave in the room, where you should’ve suspected that there was a dragon.
Fire will make a reappearance a few times, but there are many more horrors inside Shadowgate. For instance, a tomb may uncover a scary banshee or giant tentacles may emerge from the water and snap you like a twig.
There’s certainly a Dragon’s Lair atmosphere to this challenging title.
Shadowgate may ring a bell with the older generation of gamers. It’s an old point-and-click adventure classic that’s now being remade for the new guard.
Visuals have been improved with highly detailed illustrations, but the choices stay the same. Each room is presented in first person perspective, just like the dungeon crawlers of old.
As a neat bonus, the remake will offer a way to relive the NES classic version from 1989, complete with original tunes and pixelated look. There are also different difficulty settings, which will alter the puzzle structure.
Some people who previously backed the Kickstarter campaign for Shadowgate were given early Beta access to the game. At the time of writing, over 14,000 have already met their fate at the hand of the Grim Reaper, as playfully displayed on developer Zojoi’s site.
