Official Twitch Accounts for PlayStation and Xbox Were Hacked

Twitch accounts for PlayStation, Xbox and Electronic Sports League were hacked During Gamescom 2014.

It caused Highlights from previous Broadcasts posted on the channels with offensive descriptions and misleading content. Twitch believes that the hackers were able to gain access to  these channels by using unattended machines at Gamescom that were logged into the official  accounts, which to me sounds more like a human error than supreme hacking skills.

“We’re deleting the offensive VODs as soon as we find them and are alerting individual teams at the venue,” a Twitch representative stated.

“As a precautionary measure, we temporarily removed highlights and past broadcasts for those channels since it’s in the early hours of the morning in Cologne.” Twitch Added “it appears to have been a very isolated incident”.

Racist language was used in addition to the insults directed towards Microsoft and Crystal Dynamics over the recent announcement regarding Rise Of The Tomb Raider being an Xbox One Exclusive. “”Sorry guys but they rose the money bags,” “sorry bout tomb raiderbb”.

Thankfully, the damage is reversible and hopefully, all archived videos will soon be available again.
