F1 2014 Shows Bahrain Gameplay Hot Lap
Between all the Gamescom madness right now, it’s harder for companies not on the immediate targeting range of the conferences to receive some attention. Yet, developers like Codemasters are still hard at work to deliver some loved yearly releases, such as F1 2014.
It just so happens that the racing game received its first hot lap gameplay trailer, which features the statuesque route through Bahrain. Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari vehicle will be the one doing the honors.
During the clip, you’ll be able to assess just how the cars look and sound like in F1 2014. In particular, that grating sound from the engine is unfortunately realistic. It’s an acquired taste.
Liveries are exquisite as well. During certain close captured moments, it’s possible to see just how fine the reflections caress the body’s curves. Details go as far as showing the screws of the plate work.
Some of the terrain might still need some work though. Most prominently, close textures, such as asphalt or track borders, look rather flat and could use a lot of lighting finesse.
This lack of nuance also makes the car seem detached from the track right now, as if it’s hovering above it. Some angles give it more credit than others, but a touch of shading may already do wonders.
Along with F1 2014, Codemasters is also working on a Formula One title for the new generation. It will arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2015.
F1 2014 will stay on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC and launch on October 17, 2014. Codemasters stated they’re not a fan of ports, so they’ll build a new engine for the new title.
