Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Brings Back The Cardboard Box
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is bringing back the infamous cardboard box and this time it will feature a few new tricks for players to make use of.
Taking the stage during Sony’s Gamescom 2014 press conference, series creator Hideo Kojima released a new trailer where we got to see the new and improved cardboard box in action.
Gone are the days where you could only hop by enemy guards with a box on your head. In Metal Gear Solid V, players will be able to pop out to instantly take out guards with a quick shot and then retreat into hiding.
If spotted, players can also slide out from beneath and flank the approaching curious guard. Additionally, players can also use items from within.
Finally, the box can also be utilized to act as a decoy for guards.
Standing up, the front of the box can either contain a hilariously crudely sprayed image of a soldier to fool the guards into thinking you’re one of them, or that of a bikini wearing female to have the guards ogle all over while you slide from beneath and head off on your merry way.
To be honest, a half way through, I actually thought that Kojima was trolling us. The cardboard box was always ridiculous; it’s now even more and that’s just amazing.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain still has no release date.
