League of Legends 2014 World Championship Prize Money is $2M, Good Enough?
Tournament’s prize pool has move past $2M, as revealed by Riot Games. Prize pool is not as high as this year’s DOTA 2 International, where the winner was handed out $5 million.
Battle will begin with the group stage of the tournament on September 18, players will go toe to toe until only two teams remain and will compete against one another in a best of five in Seoul, South Korea which will determine the winning team on Oct 18.

Riot Games also revealed that the runner up will take home the amount of $250,000, while 3rd/4th along with 5th to 8th position holders will receive $150,000 and $75,000 respectively.
Those who compete in the group stages will not go home empty handed as well. Third position will get $45,000 with fourth place getting $15,000 and the top two teams will move on into the quarterfinal. In case of a tie, both 3rd/4th will receive $35,000 each.
