Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Has Morphing Grenades
Developer Sledgehammer Games revealed a bit of new info for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. In talks with Gamingbolt, creative director Brett Robbins mentioned that the latest iteration will reshape its explosives.
Grenades will receive an update to work differently than the current traditional setups. Normally, your throw options are divided into certain categories, but Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will change that, with Robbins stating:
The player has more tools in his toolbox when he is in battle and so the variable grenade is one of those tools. Rather than just have your standard frag or flash bang you actually have grenades that can change different effects on the fly. From a heat-seeking grenade to a threat detection that lights up enemies behind walls, EMPs to take out drones.
It’s such a simple and yet necessary idea, it’s weird no one really thought of it until now. Still, it’s not that different either; multiple shooters also allow you to carry several grenades in different slots.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is doing away with a lot of the previous generation’s mold for shooters. Regular military tactics are being put aside for an array of near-future equipment.
There’s an entire mech suit in the game that will make you look like a Space Marine. It actually is getting increasingly closer to Titanfall, who already managed to reshape some industry standards of its own.
It’s a good thing that shooters are trying to move on from a long period of similar titles. As ostensibly the paragon of the genre, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare can’t stay far behind.
