Bandai Namco Distributes PS4, Xbox One Shadow Warrior
Publisher Bandai Namco announced that it would distribute Shadow Warrior, as the remake comes to Xbox One and Playstation 4 later this fall. A console version of the shooter is due on September 26, 2014.
Previously, Shadow Warrior was already available on PC, through developer Flying Wild Hog, also responsible for games like Hard Reset. It retained the raunchy humor of the 1997 original, while adding a lot of flashy skills of its own to the bloody massacre.
For instance, it’s possible to dismember opponents with a katana. Special attacks were also included, such as a devastating whirlwind strike that cut a 360 degrees area around the player.
Surprisingly enough, between all the genitalia jokes, Shadow Warrior also has a story about demons, oppression and spirituality. Early in the game, players bond with a masked devil called Hoji.
Shadow Warrior on PS4 and Xbox One will update some of its visuals, even if the original already looked pretty good. Additionally, the game will feature an arena mode, where protagonist Lo Wang faces off against waves of enemies.
Publisher Bandai Namco is distributing much more than just Shadow Warrior. It’s taken a liking to more “indie” projects lately.
In previous news, the company announced that it would help bring the gorgeous Project Cars to market. Strangely enough, that title initially wanted to move away from publishers.
Also, Bandai Namco has an increasing number of indie games under its belt. It helped bring Beware Planet Earth and Platformines to Steam. It will do the same for the upcoming, ambitious GoD Factory: Wingmen.
