[Agent Lock is] a pivotal new character in the Halo universe, who plays a key role in Halo 5: Guardians.

In an exclusive interview with Variety, Colter stated that when he first heard of the project, he took it as a movie. He further stated that the show is in every way a movie which is divided into different segments:

When I first heard of the project it was presented as a film that would then later be edited into chapters, so in almost every way it is a film. The only difference is that it will be released in segments.

Halo: Nightfall takes place between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians and aims at providing a deeper understanding of scenarios and characters of Halo 5: Guardians.

The TV show is currently being directed by Riddley Scott and will debut alongside Halo: The Master Chief Collection in November 2014.
