Beware! The Official Terraria Website Has Been Compromised
Alright this came by as a surprise and a big one at that. The official website of Terraria has been compromised – or let me rephrase it; it has been hardcore hacked!
We still have no official word from the game developers or any official for that matter. It seems the issue has only affected the website, i.e. terraria.org, and that it will have no effect on the servers at all.
The problem is directly related to the host they were using, and it won’t be a problem in the future as the developers will be switching to a completely different host now.
That being said, he did say that it is not advisable for anyone to currently visit the website, whether to download any files that you might be worried about.
Terraria is an action-adventure sandbox game that has been developed by Re-logic for the PC versions, Engine Software for consoles and by Codeglue for mobile iterations.
The game was first released in May 2011 to Microsoft Windows and has been quite popular among the PC users ever since then. PS3 and Xbox 360 versions came in later, which had collectively helped the game sell way over 2 million copies in 2013.
These were followed by Windows Phone, Android, iOS and PS Vita versions that have further jumped the player base of the game. Considering all that, the official Terraria website being hacked sounds like an awfully big deal. I hope the players don’t get affected by it.
