Arguably the Best Mod for Halo: Combat Evolved Adds New Vehicles, Weapons, and More
While 343 Industries is occupied with the development of Halo 5: Guardians and reimagining all pre-existing Halo titles for Xbox One, a rather small, but dedicated group of PC enthusiasts is trying to transform Halo: Combat Evolved into an entirely different experience.
A new mod called SPV3 from Custom Map Team takes the things on a whole new level by not only overhauling the visual fidelity of the game, but also introducing several gameplay changes.
Aside from targeting new environments, extended levels, and a wide array of new features, SPV3 also adds a bunch of new vehicles, weapons, enemies, and some of the abilities found in more recent releases.
The team has decided to launch the mod in waves. Here’s a quick rundown of various releases along with their expected release dates:
- Pillar of autumn – Nov. 26, 2014
- Halo – Dec. 3, 2014
- Truth and Reconciliation – Dec. 10, 2014
- The Silent Cartographer Evolved – Dec. 17, 2014
- Assault on the Control Room – Dec. 24, 2014

I’m pretty hyped to see how Microsoft’s remake of Halo: Combat Evolved in Halo: The Master Chief Collection will stack up against SPV3.
