Dota 2 The International 4 – NewBee in the Grand Finals

On the day 1 of the main event, NewBee has become the big boss and the team to beat in the Grand Finals.

This day featured the 3 matches in the Upper Bracket between NewBee, Vici Gaming, Evil Geniuses and Team DK.

Before the games though, Valve kicked things off with an opening ceremony by none other than the man himself, Gabe Newell. After that and before the first round of games, the team’s introductions were shown:

NewBee hasn’t lost since their tiebreaker games and they’ve managed to beat the team with the most wins in the Round Robin, Vici Gaming by 2-1, and in one of these wins they’ve beaten VG in just 14 minutes!

The 2nd fastest victory in the whole tournament.

The other match in this round, EG managed to beat DK by 2-0 with a dominant performance by the home team. Fans couldn’t stop chanting USA which surely boosted EG’s morale.

The winners of both matches then went on to fight each other, in which the Chinese squad flexed their muscles to dominate EG by 2-0, thus having secured their spot at the Grand Finals and a guaranteed 2nd place.

With this day concluded and the 3 losing teams dropping down to the Lower Bracket, the tournament now looks like this:

The following days will surely feature fierce action between the teams because in the Lower Bracket there are no second chances as the loser will be eliminated.
