Bayonetta 2 is an important catch for Nintendo and you can rest assure that Platinum Games will be working extra hard to ensure that the Wii U exclusive title is everything that the other platform holders wish they could get.

In terms of visuals, the second installment is already looking better than its predecessor. Boasting an improved engine that makes good use of the Wii U’s capabilities, Bayonetta 2 is going to feature some captivating environments.

Lead Environmental artist Hiroki Onishi today shared details of his trips to Belgium and Italy, and how they helped influence the game’s settings. The results are most impressive. Not only are the comparison shots great to look at, but the environments themselves look pretty neat as well.

You can check out all the comparison shots by heading to the official posting made on Platinum Games’ website.

Onishi-san said that a large section of Bayonetta 2 takes place in Noatun, a city filled with waterways and rivers. His recent trips have provided him with “new experiences, and information” that have helped build the foundation to what’s looking like a great installment to Bayonetta.
