Here’s Your First Look At Athena, Your Gladiator In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

By   /   Jul 17, 2014

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is just a few months away from its release and Gearbox thinks that this is the right time to start revealing the characters that will be playable in the game, and they start off by introducing us to Athena.

Athena did make an appearance before in The Secret Armory of General Knoxx in first Borderlands title, where she was an elite agent, but this time around she will be on Handsome Jack’s team.

Gearbox reveals that the active ability of Athena will be called Kinetic Aspis, which is a shield that will stop all the incoming projectiles for a limited time, and after the time runs out, she will throw her shield at the enemies to do double the damage the shield absorbed.

She will serve as the tank of your group and will focus more on fast paced close quarters combat. There is also a new system added in the game called Maelstrom, which will let her chain all of her moves together to deliver more damage on the opponent.

Moreover, she has a skill of Blood Rush that turns the damage done by simple melee swipe to a fully charged attack, which can be be an extremely deadly weapon in the combat.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set to release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on 14th of October.
