Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Free Weekend Begins Friday

By   /   Jul 17, 2014

Previously Square Enix had promised a free weekend for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn subscribers that was supposed to take place last Friday. The publisher however then announced that they are delaying the free weekend by a week and will now take place this Friday instead.

“The Welcome Back campaign previously announced to commence this weekend has been shifted to next weekend with final details to be announced,” the publisher wrote on Twitter.

The free weekend is an attempt to get back inactive players who were unable to experience the new content that has been added after their departure.

The game’s official website notes that in order to be eligible for the free weekend, players must have previously purchased and registered the game and most importantly, “whose service account is set as inactive during the campaign period.”

The event will take place from Friday, July 18 2014 at 12:00 a.m. (PDT) to Monday, July 21 2014 at 12:00 a.m. (PDT). Once the event has expired, players will be required to renew their subscription in order to continue playing more.

Square Enix recently released patch 2.3 for the game that adds a new Primal, a 72-player PvP mode called Frontlines, new main quests, new dungeons, new battle zones that will include Borderland Ruins of Carteneau Flats, Chocobo Raising, and more.
