Make Way, Rayman Trophy is Coming to Super Smash Bros for Wii U

Super Smash Bros for Wii U has a seemingly never ending list of characters that will be playable. In fact, the choice is so diverse already that it feels like anyone from any universe could be expected. That is exactly what game director Sakurai did recently by announcing Rayman as a trophy for the game.

Masahiro Sakurai has made it a habit of disclosing details about the game using his Miiverse account. Most recently he has been using the pic of the day feature to share the different characters of the game, introducing and announcing new ones as well.

This time around, he took most of us by surprise by sharing a picture of Ubisoft Montpellier’s famed Rayman while announcing that he too will be in the game. Here’s the text that accompanied the picture shown above:

“Pic of the day. In order to make Rayman’s trophy, we asked Ubisoft to share their references. We were expecting to receive 2D drawing references for Rayman, but to our surprise, they sent us data of a brand new 3D model that they rendered for this game!! And that was how this trophy was created. It takes a lot of work creating each model, so it’s wonderful that the creators contributed their own efforts!!”

Now although Super Smash Bros for Wii U won’t have Rayman as a playable character, his presence in the game would still satiate many. Ubisoft has provided Bandai Namco Games with a 3D model of the character.

Who else would you like to see in Super Smash Bros for Wii U or 3DS?
