Old Diablo-Like RPG In Exilium Starts Beta Event
Independent developer Conflux Games has announced a small Beta for their upcoming PC title, In Exilium. It’s especially interesting if you’re a traditional hack and slash roleplaying game (RPG) fanatic.
Naturally, with its isometric view and more basic, zoomed-out visuals, it has quite the Diablo vibe going on. Think back to the older Diablo releases, however, since the basic art is more reminiscent of the Baldur’s Gate era than the modern era.
In a design goal post, the developer talks about some of the differences they want to get into In Exilium. For instance, the game’s maps will be fragmented into smaller sections, so that each location is more impactful than just having a wide empty area.
Locations are created at random, as per the genre’s model, with random loot drops as well.
Additionally, In Exilium wants to keep combat fully simplified in its enhancing elements. Characters that meet the proper prerequisites for certain skills will automatically be able to use them, without an unlock system.
To access In Exilium in Beta, simply create a post in the game’s Desura forums. There’s a first come, first serve rule.
Since this is an indie project, the developer stresses to return to the forums with as much bug reports and feedback as possible. In Exilium will be looking toward a release on August 18, 2014.
In Exilium gets its name, because the player is left alone in its world. There are no additional characters or quests, leaving exploration as the only option to find out what’s going on in the game.
