Joe Montana Football 16 Teased, Madden NFL has a New Rival
It was bit of an unexpected surprise to see Joe Montana Football 16 teased earlier today.
It’s been 23 years on Megadrive/Genesis and 24 years on Sega Master System/MS-DOS since the long lost original Joe Montana Football game made its debut on these systems.
The teaser comes directly from the Joseph Montana’s official Twitter Feed with hashtags like, #youhavewaitedlongenough and #joemontanafootball16.

The Tweet also showed a CGI image of Joseph Montana with his number ’16’ glancing upon a large foggy stadium crowd, with his helmet by his side.
That’s pretty much everything we have to go by. No more details regarding any release date, expected platforms, or an expected trailer whatsoever have been provided! But more information will surely follow; make sure to keep checking back.
If by any means, this ends up on current-gen consoles along with PC, it will surely give Electronic Arts’ Madden NFL franchise a run for its money!
However, an interesting thing is that Electronic Arts now owns the rights for NFL franchise and even the original Joe Montana Football used random United States’ cities names with fictional players. The only exception was Joseph Montana, himself. Still, I’m excited to see how this will turn out this time around!
Though the game is quite old, did you get a chance to play it? If so, what are your expectations from it?
