EU PSN Accounts Can Download Destiny Beta Without Pre-Ordering

The Destiny beta is allegedly available now for European PlayStation 4 owners to download, and that too for those who have not pre-ordered the game.

In a post spotted on NeoGAF, there’s a way around for PS4 owners where they can download the Destiny beta client without pre-ordering the game. Previously Bungie had confirmed that the beta would be available only to those who purchase a copy.

According to user Dan27, PlayStation 4 owners simply need to pre-order the title and then head into Settings -> PSN -> Account Information -> Wallet. Check your Transaction History next to see that the purchase is in the amount of 0.00 euros. Click on the entry and cancel your pre-order.

This will ensure that you can download the beta, and that the pre-order request is cancelled.

“You will be able to play it on your main account in any region, so long as you go to Settings -> PSN -> Activate as Your Primary PS4.”

From the looks of it, the process is working just for those living in or who have an European PlayStation Network account.

Earlier today two 30-second clips were uploaded on Xboxclips.com that showed Destiny beta footage on the Xbox One. I’m not entirely sure what’s up with the second clips. That’s either lag or severe frame drops.

Yesterday, Bungie updated us on the Destiny beta codes which will be distributed soon across all the various consoles involved. According to its Twitter account, the codes will be sent via email or Bungie.net profiles on the same day when the beta begins on the consoles.

That means that PS3 and PS4 players should be receiving their beta codes on July 17; while the Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners will get theirs via the same method on July 23.

Destiny is scheduled for release later this year.
