Watch Dogs has Sold 8 Million Copies in Just Over a Month
Watch Dogs, in the first week of its release, sold more than 4 Million copies, and in a new report to investors, Ubisoft claims that its open world title has managed to cross the 8 Million mark, in terms of sales.
The report also states that Ubisoft has generated the sales of $490 million in first quarter of its fiscal year, which is a huge increase compared to $103 million during the same period last year, and a huge credit for this figure, goes to Watch Dogs.
CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot in statement given to investors confirms that Watch Dogs will now be made into a franchise, with more to come in the future:
The success of Watch Dogs and the quality of our games portfolio presented at this year’s E3 highlight our strategic positioning as well as our continuous drive for innovation and affirm our long-term approach. Watch Dogs is now well positioned as a major franchise, and we will be able to replicate and build on its success in the coming years.
Initially, Ubisoft expected to sell 6 million copies of Watch Dogs during its whole lifetime, but due to its open world gameplay and stealth mechanics, the game managed to get fairly good reviews, which in turn helped it to surpass the developer’s expectations.
Ubisoft also created a huge impact at this year’s E3, by showing some really amazing titles like Assassin’s Creed: Unity, The Division, The Crew, Far Cry 4, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and more.
Watch Dogs is out now for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
