New DriveClub Videos Show Off The Dynamic Weather System

DriveClub is going to feature a pretty dynamic weather system, but the system will not be available at the game’s launch and will be brought in through a free update later on. Fans of course were not too pleased with the news and the cynics had to ask as to why the game was even delayed for such a long period of time when they can’t even release such important features at release day.

In order to convince fans that the wait will be worth it, developer Evolution Studios released some new gameplay videos on Instagram and Facebook.

The game’s Art Director Alex Perkins explained to the PlayStation Blog that the weather conditions can go from bad to worse at any time. A simple drizzle can change to a downpour an then even to a sheer blizzard.

“You can expect it to change dynamically and unpredictably while you race — because we’ve designed it to be just like real weather systems,” said Perkins. “Lots of things play into this, like elevation, wind speed and temperature.”

Perkins also state that weather conditions will change as you head into certain areas. For example, driving up mountains will make the snow heavier and lower visibility. In fact conditions can even reach to the point of zero visibility. Players will be able to fully customize the weather themselves, and create unique challenges to share with friends.

You can see DriveClub’s weather in action in the two videos below. The PlayStation 4 exclusive racer is scheduled for release later this year.
