The Evil Within Getting Gore Mode DLC in Japan for Full Experience
The Evil Within has been on the radar of many Shinji Makima fans and as we draw closer to its release date in October, developer as revealed more information about the game.
Now, in a new interview ZeniMax Asia’s GM Tetsu Takahashi has shared details on how the rating system in Japan will force developers to not release the full gory version of the game.
If we were to make it the same way as the foreign version, it’d be rated CERO Z [18 and up] and we felt that it’d be best to release it the way the creators make it. However, that would limit the sales and advertising, so we’d lose the opportunity to reach out to as many customers possible.
However, Japanese community will not have to worry as developers have decided to launch a separate DLC for the game, which will give it the same gory feel, as its western counterpart.
The Evil Within will have two types of CERO D and CERO Z, with both of them having passed the CERO inspections, but the retail version will only be done using the CERO D version. Those who preorder the game can also get the CERO Z version’s representation through the Gore Mode DLC.
So, there you have it, developers are going to release only 17+ version on retail, but if you are looking to get the same gory feel to the game, as western consumers, then you will have to get the Gore Mode DLC pack.
The Evil Within is going to hit the shelves on 21st of October for Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PC.
