Destiny Beta Begins on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on July 23
Activision and Bungie have finally announced that the public beta test for Destiny will commence on the Xbox platforms from July 23.
Those interested in getting a taste of Bungie’s latest offerings will need to fulfill two requirements. Firstly you need to have had pre-ordered the game and secondly you’ll require an Xbox Live Gold subscription to join in.
Previously the publisher had revealed that the Destiny beta would come to the PlayStation platforms on July 17. Similar to the Xbox requirements, PlayStation owners will require to have had pre-ordered the game, and to be a member of PlayStation Plus.
Destiny’s alpha test concluded last month with around 6.5 million games played on the PlayStation 4 alone. The public beta featuring the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One will make this number trivial, taking into consideration how many are anxiously waiting to check the game out.
The beta will encompass a diverse sampling of the activities to be featured in the full game, such as co-op strike missions and arena battles.
The beta launches first on PS3 and PS4 at 10:00am PDT on July 17. It will go down for scheduled maintenance on July 21-22 in anticipation of opening up to Xbox One and 360 at 10:00am PDT on July 23, running through 11:59pm PDT on July 27.
Recently it was revealed that PlayStation Asia will only require players to register themselves and to be randomly drafted for the beta. Up to 50,000 slots are available and no one is required to pre-order the game to be eligible.
Destiny will launch in full for all platforms on September 9.
