Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Could Come To PS4 and Xbox One
2K Games has stated that if fans want Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on the new consoles, then they only have to ask.
Speaking to Gamereactor TV, 2K Games Australia’s Tony Lawrence and Gearbox Software’s franchise director Matt Armstrong said that a current-gen version of the game is a possibility. While the game will still launch first for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, fans only need to request a current-gen version for the studio to consider.
“I guess we’re full on developing the PS3, 360 and PC game, and we believe in that too,” observed Lawrence. “All the Borderlands 2 players are playing on those consoles. That’s the choice they’ve got. So we want to reward those guys. If fans say ‘hey, we’d really like this on a next-gen console’, well, we’ll think about that, but right now we’re concentrating on the consoles we know.”
Armstrong also noted that it wouldn’t be fair to new players on both the PS4 and Xbox One who have no knowledge of the previous Borderlands titles. What 2K might plan later on is a complete Borderlands bundle featuring all three titles. That would be a pretty awesome bundle to get on the current-gen consoles.
Events of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel take place just before Borderlands 2 and follows Handsome Jack as he escapes his prison on Pandora’s Moon and tries to take over the compound. The game will once again feature four playable characters, each of which has been featured in the series previously as a non-playable character.
