Explosive Dinosaurs Adds Twitch Plays And VVVVVV Cameo
Party game Explosive Dinosaurs has a final update for its Kickstarter campaign. In the post, the team shows off a few neat mini-games.
Its most prominent work in progress is a game that follows the recent “Twitch Plays” craze that started with Pokémon. In this case, players will need to give inputs to their dinosaurs to lead it to the right corner.
Other games include a screen where you try and guess the correct download button or catch a virus, in a parody for shadier sites with tons of links, but only a single functional one. Those who choose wisely gain a point and those who click poorly will explode.
There are seven more mini-games shown off. That should say something about the level of creativity this game collection wants to bring to Ouya and PC.
Still, it doesn’t look like Explosive Dinosaurs will make its Kickstarter goal of $20,000. With a little more than two days left, the project only managed to collect a bit over $1,000.
In another post, the team addressed what mistakes it made. One of the clearest points would be: Explosive Dinosaurs started its Kickstarter drive at the height of E3 2014. Try competing there.
Other problems were noted as getting no press attention regardless, which is a little hurtful, considering we did try to tell you about the game, but we understand the notion. On their part, the team mentioned it didn’t exactly know how to reach out to media either.
An important part many forget, which Explosive Dinosaurs also did, was that it had no catchy start to its video and that failed to capture the audience’s attention in the first 10 seconds. Recently, indie game Okhlos released a sizable post on how to craft a good game trailer.
Despite the failing drive, Explosive Dinosaurs will continue development. Moreover, VVVVVV will make a cameo appearance in the game.
