Lindsay Lohan Sues Rockstar Over Jonas Character Impression in GTA V
I’m almost certain now that Hollywood celebrities down on their luck hire lawyers to sniff out possible chances to sue someone and rake in that easy money. Even if they lose the case, the proceedings will help plaster their faces in the news and hence make it a win-win situation for them.
Wednesday saw actress or former actress I’d say, Lindsay Lohan, sue Rockstar Games over an alleged misuse of her image in Grand Theft Auto V. According to reports, the lawsuit was filed in a Manhattan court where she claims that the Lacey Jonas character is actually modeled after Lohan without her permission.
In the game, the Lacey Jonas character appears in a mission where players must help her avoid paparazzi. To be honest, she does have a slight hint of similarity with Lohan but I highly doubt that gives enough grounds for a lawsuit.
The suit further claims that the character also utilizes her voice and clothing lines, all of which is without her permission. The game also features another allegedly Lohan-inspired mission in its version of the Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood, where Lohan once lived.
Both Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have declined to comment on the matter. If anything, Lohan should be honored to have herself in a legendary game that will be remembered down the line for years.
GTA V earned over $1 billion in sales within the first three days of release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in September of 2013. At E3 last month, Rockstar announced a next-gen version of the game to release later in fall for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
