How to Use DualShock 4 With a PlayStation 3 After Recent Update

By   /   Jul 2, 2014

There is no doubt that the DualShock 4 is far better than DualShock 3 on many grounds!

The revamped PlayStation 4 controller is less squeaky [Under Pressure], the analogue sticks are designed for a more comfortable experience, the touch-pad is an innovative new addition, and it is slightly larger than its predecessors – the chief reason as to why Xbox 360 controller always took the lead.

While previously, tech-geeks discovered a way to use a DualShock 4 with a PlayStation 3 system, it was only possible on a wired connection and didn’t work as expected.

Today, a Redditor has discovered a way of using a DualShock 4 wirelessly with a PlayStation 3 system.

Of course, DualShock 4’s touch-pad capabilities, controller’s vibration, PS Button, and Six-Axis won’t work, but that’s not something ruining the entire experience.

If you’re one of those lads who yet have to feel the DualShock 4 in your hands, here’s a brief tutorial:

Things Required: A DualShock 4, a micro-USB cable, and a PlayStation 3 system with 4.60 Firmware

Step #1
Connect your DualShock 4 to PlayStation 3 system via micro-USB connection and turn on your PS3

Step #2
Go to ‘Accessory Settings’

Step #3
Select ‘Manage Bluetooth Devices’ and scan for a device

Step #4
This step is extremely important and most people are currently overlooking it! As soon as the PlayStation 3 begins searching, you need to disconnect the DualShock 4 [By unplugging the micro-USB], lest it won’t work

Step #5
During scanning, you need to hold down PS and Share button, simultaneously

Step #6
Select the Wireless Controller and you’ll be good to go

Note: Step #4 is extremely important and is the sole reason why the method is not working for the most people!
