No Man’s Sky Has a Lot of Potential for Mods, PC Port is a Possibility

It’s been almost a month since Hello Games’ procedurally-generated sci-fi title, No Man’s Sky made its debut at E3 2014 and the developers are still uncertain of a PC release.

Previously, when asked whether the game will see a PC release, Hello Games yielded an ambiguous response indicating that they haven’t ruled out a PC port.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun reports that they had a talk with Hello Games’ Sean Murray at this year’s E3 and he was somewhat inclined towards a PC release.

Basically we’re doing a console debut on PS4. That’s all we’re saying right now. But that leaves open a PC version, which we really want to do.

However, Murray was somewhat reluctant when asked about a possible release/announcement window for a PC version.

Considering a PC release, the interviewer also asked Hello Games’ Alex Wiltshire about mod-support which is something, PC gaming is known for. Now, although Alex didn’t talk much of a PC port, he did see potential in the idea, stating:

We don’t know yet whether we’ll allow mods or provide tools to support them. Our focus, though, is on features that support what for us the game is about – exploring a vast universe. That might inherently involve mods – we’ll know more as we continue making the game.

There you have it! Doesn’t look like they have completely ruled out beloved PC. Share your views with us!
