Minecraft: Giant Horse Statues and Render Distance Teased
Yesterday saw 4J Studios posting an image of two giant horse statues in Mincraft, which possibly suggests their inclusion sooner than expected.
“The 4J artists have been enjoying the increased view distance on #MinecraftXBox1 and #MinecraftPS4 🙂 Recognise this?” posted the studio on Twitter. The statues in question were inspired by Andrew Scott’s The Kelpies.
As mentioned, the image reminds us of the new improved render distance feature on the new PS4 and Xbox One versions of Minecraft.
It’s possible that 4J Studios plans to include the new statues in the game with a new update that will go live on the same day the PS4 and Xbox One versions are released in August.
The next-gen versions will feature worlds 36 times larger than the ones we’re seeing in the current PS3 and Xbox 360 editions. The developer plans to fully take advantage of the power offered by the new hardware.
Earlier this week Mojang announced that the sales of the console versions of Minecraft have exceeded the PC. In total more than 54 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide.
The already announced “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition” is on schedule to release in August, alongside its PS4 and PS Vita Editions. No exact release date has been set yet but upgrading from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One or PS3 to the PS4 will only cost $5. The PS Vita Edition will be a free upgrade to existing “Minecraft: PS3 Edition” owners.
