Afro Samurai 2 and Kyn Announced by Versus Evil
Did you like the 2009 hack and slash title based on the Afro Samurai manga series? And are you a fan of samurais and afros? Well, either way you are in for a treat. Publisher Versus Evil has announced two new games and one of them is Afro Samurai 2!
After four years of silence, this is the first we have heard of an Afro Samurai sequel and as expected, the title is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game will play in a third person perspective and will be an action adventure title based around the original story of the series.
We have been told that new playable characters will be added along with enhanced special moves and combos for the new characters and the existing ones.
Afro Samurai 2 is being developed by Redact Studios while the other announced title, Kyn, is being developed by Tangrin.
The latter is going to be a Viking inspired strategy game with elements of roleplaying. It is currently in development for PC, Mac and Linux.
That being said, Steve Escalante the general manager of Versus Evil has expressed enthusiasm over working with indie developers while assuring that Redact and Tangrin have the talent to turn out two good titles:
“Working with independent studios is truly rewarding and we couldn’t be happier to add Redacted Studios and Tangrin to a growing list of top indie studios. Afro Samurai and Kyn are two excellent and promising titles that we are privileged to be publishing. The talent present within these studios is simply amazing and we are really excited to work with them to bring these games to the market.”
Whether you are interested in Kyn or not, Afro Samurai 2 is certainly going to grab your attention if you are a manga fan.
