Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Announced For 3DS
Activision has announced a ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ game for Nintendo 3DS that will be based on the upcoming movie being produced by Michael Bay.
The game is being developed by Magic Pockets, the studio behind last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games for Xbox 360, Wii, and 3DS, that were based on the Nickelodeon CG series.
According to a press release, the new TMNT is being built “around fast-moving hack-and-slash gameplay.” Rather than playing through a single turtle, players will have the freedom to quickly swap between all four ninjas on the fly. This will help in utilizing the unique set of skills of each turtle during combat.
Magic Pockets revealed that Raphael is the more powerful of the bunch, while Michelangelo is faster than the others. I’m assuming that Leonardo is able to absorb more damage and Donatello is quick with his gadgets, if there are any.
All four turtles will gain experience and earn new abilities upon leveling up over time. Furthermore players can head to the Turtle’s Lair to craft more powerful weapons through “raw materials collected throughout the adventure.”
The game will follow the events of the movie where “mad genius Baxter Stockman’s mutant and robotic horrors have teamed up with the shadowy armies of the Foot Clan to terrorize New York City.”
TMNT is scheduled for release later this summer for the 3DS, while the live-action film hits theaters on August 8.
