This is a great feature to have in Shadow of Mordor as it gives players an incentive to come back to the game, enhancing its replayability value.
The Nemesis System is a major feature of the game as it provides numerous options for you – The players – you can decide to kill that Uruk Captain right at the time of facing, leave him be [He will remember your face and seek revenge], or mind control him to join your forces against the Dark Lord.
In the end, whatever you decide to do to him, it will remain in his memory. Beware that upon his next encounter with you, he will react in a way, which will be directly related to what happened between you and him during the previous encounter.
Shadow of Mordor has created a lot of hype for itself and the fan base of the game is constantly increasing, but we will see if the game lives up to its promises when it finally hit the shelves on Oct. 7, 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.
