Dragon Age: Inquisition’s First Gay Companion Unveiled by Bioware

Bioware has been revealing new characters of Dragon Age: Inquisition that will accompany you in your quest to save the country of Ferelden and the latest entry in the companions is Dorian.

Dorian utilizes the power of magic and will prove his metal by helping you in the combat from long range. Bioware’s writer David Gaider shared the news in a blog post saying:

Dorian is gay – he is, in fact, the first fully gay character I’ve had the opportunity to write. It added an interesting dimension to his back story, considering he comes from a place where “perfection” is the face that every mage puts on and anything that smacks of deviancy is shameful and meant to be hidden.

Dorian’s refusal to play along with that façade is seen as stubborn and pointless by his family, which has contributed to his status as a pariah.

Bioware has been known for giving a lot of attention to romance options in their games and there have been characters that were involved in homosexual romances, but they all were bisexuals, as clarified by David Gaider on twitter:

Dragon Age: Inquisition is set to launch on 7th of October for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC.
