Mistwalker Trademarks “Terra Battle,” Possible New Project By Final Fantasy Creator

By   /   Jun 27, 2014

Hironobu Sakaguchi, one of the original creators of the Final Fantasy franchise will be at Japan Expo in Paris next month, talking about his experience in the video games industry, his vision for the future of gaming as well as a new mysterious project he is working on.

According to Gematsu, Sakaguchi’s studio, Mistwalker has trademarked the phrase “Terra Battle” which might be the name of his new project.

Since the release of Lost Oddysey in 2011, Sakaguchi has been pretty silent on the gaming front except the release of an iOS title, Party Wave.

Some might wonder that this “Terra Battle” might be related to a new Final Fantasy game, but even though Sakaguchi was one of the founding fathers of the franchise, that possibility is highly unlikely since he left Square Enix in 2004 after working on Final Fantasy IX.

Given Mistwalker’s track record of creating some really successful and well received games since its creation in 2004, fans of the studio’s titles can expect yet another amazing title headed their way.

Let’s hope the studio decides to utilize the potential of new generation consoles rather than developing solely for the old ones. Fingers crossed for a lot of details regarding Terra Battle during Japan Expo from July 2nd till July 6th.
