Platinum Games Working on The Legend of Korra, a Third-Person Action Title
A third-person action game based on the popular Nickelodeon TV show The Legend of Korra is in development at Platinum Games and will release this fall on all major platforms.
The game will see to a digital release only and is being written by Tim Hedrick himself, who has placed the game’s events between The Legend of Korra’s second and third seasons.
As is evident from an Avatar game, players will be able to use all elements – fire, earth, air and water, in combat against familiar enemies such as Mecha Tanks and Chi Blockers, as well as other element benders in the 3v3 Pro-Bending arena.
The Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Bayonetta 2 studio has not mentioned any multiplayer elements yet but with the game’s Pro-Bending arena feature it would be a waste to not put in an online pvp setup. Provided that the game’s mechanics are good, players would certainly enjoy going up against other players with their chosen elements.
The Legend of Korra is not the only Avatar game to release this year. There is also a turn-based strategy version of the same game being developed for release on the 3DS this year. Platinum Games’ version is going to focus more on fast-paced action, while the 3DS version will “focus on tactically maneuvering Korra and her allies on the battlefield.”
The Legend of Korra releases this fall on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
In related news, The Legend of Korra: Book Three debuts this Friday.
