Teaser Site For A New Etrian Oddysey Game Launched By Atlus

Atlus, the Japanese developer behind the highly famous Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series seems to be working on releasing a sequel to another one of their franchises, Etrian Oddysey.

The developers have just launched a teaser website titled “this is not broccoli”. The site features an extremely tall tree (10,000m to be exact) with the option to climb it by pressing a button on the screen. There are set milestones on the tree, upon reaching which an alphabet or number is unlocked.

Climbing the tree was no easy feat mind you; yes it required a lot of clicks! Upon reaching 10,000m a total of 3 characters are unlocked “2DX”.

Now this in itself may not really seem much of a big deal and from the looks of it has no relation to the Nintendo DS exclusive, Etrian Oddyssey but it’s the little things that count right?
The website address has ‘”sq” at its start, something which the previous Etrian Oddyssey games have also done on their teaser sites.

Now the tree might seem random to a normal person as well given how the franchise is basically a dungeon crawler rpg. Well Etrian Oddyssey in Japanese really means Labyrinth of Yggdrasil, the tree linking all the nine realms in Norse Mythology.

There is no mention of a release date on the site or a platform, but given how previous games have been Nintendo exclusives and the previous installment of the franchise was on 3DS, its fairly certain this new one will be a 3DS exclusive as well.
