Xbox One and 360 Combined Sold Less Than PS4 in May in US
Well, this would be the fifth month in a row when Sony has taken the lead in the PS4 vs Xbox One sales race. Despite claims from fans and Microsoft itself that their console is the best that the market can get, the market shows a totally different story.
The NPD sales figures for May have reported that PlayStation 4 was once more the top selling console in the United States while Xbox One dropped down to number 3 as it sold lesser units than Nintendo’s 3DS.
As far as the hardware sales are concerned, the figures were 95 percent greater than the comparative month from last year and overall industry sales also experienced a 52 percent jump over the same period.
That being said, here’s a rundown on how each of the eight major systems treaded in terms of units that they managed to sell:
- PS4 (197,000)
- 3DS (97,000)
- Xbox One (77,000)
- Wii U (61,000)
- Xbox 360 (57,000)
- PlayStation Vita (56,000)
- PS3 (36,000)
- Wii (11,000)
Also, here are the top 10 selling games for all the platforms combined:
- Watch Dogs
- Mario Kart 8
- MLB 14: The Show
- Wolfenstein: The New Order
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2
- NBA 2K14
- Kirby: Triple Deluxe
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
Are you more surprised that Xbox One and Xbox 360 combined couldn’t sell as much as PS4 alone or are you more surprised that Mario Kart 8 managed to sell the second highest copies despite being available on Wii U alone? Do you think that Microsoft will ever be able to outdo Sony in the PS4 vs Xbox One rivalry?
