Dota 2 The International 4 to have $10 Million Prize Pool

By   /   Jun 18, 2014

Every year millions of people come together to take part in the numerous competitions that are held in the Dota 2 world, but the best one among all of them is The International.

Last year, Valve had put up a prize pool of $2.8 million and for this year’s event i.e. The International 4, it could be four times greater than that!

Last year, Valve allocated 25 percent of the money raised from sale of Compendiums towards the prize pool. Compendiums are sold for $10 each, which means that for every one of those sticker books sold, the prize grew by $2.50.

Following tradition, Compendiums were put up on sale this year as well. It has been six weeks since it is on sale and already, the prize pool has shot up from $1.6 million to $9.5 million!

Now, there is a little less than a month left in The International 4 which makes it easy to assume that the total prize money would be at least $10 million!

This means that the team that comes first this time will go home with around $5 million to be split among the five team members. We really have a millionaire maker at our hands!

As far as the compendiums are concerned, they will only be useful for the buyers for a couple of months. They are these interactive entertainment programs that let you predict the winners and get certain in-game rewards.

How many of you have spent some dimes on the Compendiums this year? Are you going to The International 4?
