Ubisoft Still Adamant That Watch Dogs Was Not Downgraded
Ubisoft’s PR team continues to stress that the recently released Watch Dogs title was in no way downgraded for the PC platform. This is despite of recent findings that goes totally in opposite of what Ubisoft wants us to believe.
Yesterday, a modder on the Guru3D forums called ‘The Worse’ discovered that Watch Dogs still contains all the Shaders and other improvements files that were seen in the game’s initial E3 2012 and 2013 demo. He reported that these files are still accessible and utilized them to implement dynamic shadows, enhanced rain density, increased NPC density, bloom and lens flare in his modded version of Watch Dogs.
The beautiful final product was jaw dropping to say the least.
Today Tessa Vilyn, PR & Events Manager at Ubisoft Benelux was asked on Twitter her views on the matter. Seeing that Ubisoft blatantly stated a couple of months ago that Watch Dogs was not gimped visually on the PC, the studio might want to issue a new statement.
Vilyn though stayed true to the company’s words, saying “I recall replying saying that the game was not downgraded, i still stick to that yes.”
The popular and logically opinion on why Ubisoft did this heinous act is that the studio did not want to deal with the large consoles community over why the PC version is superior. With Far Cry 4 releasing later this year, the studio has once again stated that the game will look the same on all three platforms. Perhaps you should wait for the reviews before pre-ordering the game.
