Eiji Aonuma Wants to Lessen Tutorials in The Legend of Zelda Wii U Game
Series creator Eiji Aonuma has stated that he wants to lessen the amount of tutorials in the upcoming new The Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U.
Speaking with Kotaku in a recent interview, the developer said that he felt the tutorials in Skyward Sword were a bit too much for players, seeing that they lasted for around 4 hours before players could actually start playing the game for real.
Aonuma expressed that all he wanted was for everyone to understand the game from the beginning. However, his intentions backfired and having learned from that, he will be toning it down in the new Zelda title.
“In a game, it’s when you get stuck, when you want that help,” said Aonuma. “It doesn’t really help to get that information when you don’t know what to do with it.”
“That was a real learning experience for me,” he continued. “So I’m going to be careful not to do that.”
The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U was revealed at E3 this year to be a beautiful open world title. Aonuma is trying his best to revive the franchise and tweaking a lot of variables that might have gone stale in the series’ previous installments.
