Mortal Kombat X New Characters And Features Showcased
Mortal Kombat fans had been waiting for a detailed look at the upcoming title of the franchise during E3 after the amazing reveal last week.
In a Twitch stream where the host was joined by Ed Boone himself, fans got to know more about Mortal Kombat X, gameplay elements and new characters coupled with next generation visuals.
The new changes to the gameplay include a Character Variation option where each playable character will have three unique variations to choose from before a match. Abilities in that specific variation will be exclusive to it and cannot be used if another variation is selected.
Fan favorite Scorpion’s variations will be called Ninjutsu, Hellfire and Inferno. Scorpion will be able to dual wield swords in Ninjutsu, fire attacks in Hellfire and summon demons in Inferno.
D’Vorah one of the new characters added to MKX has a Swarm Queen and a Broodmother variation along with a third yet unknown one.
The character selection screen features 24 slots which includes 4 new characters which have been revealed. There is D’Vorah with power to control insects, Ferra/Torr a brute with a little girl on his shoulders who can be used to various ranged attacks, Kotal Kahn an Aztec god of war and Cassie Cage.
Cassie Cage is the daughter of classic Mortal Kombat characters Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage. Her’s and Kotal Kahn’s abilities are still unknown.
There is also a mysterious Fedora wearing silhouette on the character selection screen and many fans are expecting it to be Rorschach from Watchmen.
Two of the new maps added to the game are named Outworld Marketplace and The Cove. Just like in Injustice: Gods Among Us, players will be able to use their surroundings to their advantage, but it seems like not as weapons but for better maneuverability or getting behind opponents.
The X-ray moves and Fatalities look really great and the game takes gore to a whole new level. There is even a homage to classic Mortal Komat 3 fatality where Sub-Zero rips an enemy into two pieces after breaking their spine.
Mortal Kombat X is set to be released in 2015 and will take place right after the events of MK9 and will span over a total of 25 years in which players will experience certain characters aging.
