Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Extended E3 Trailer Released
With all the hype generated for E3 2014, I’m a bit surprised to see that not many are talking about Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. The action role-playing game is banking on the illustrious lore provided in literature by J. R. R. Tolkien and also plans to focus, for the first time, on the dark lord Sauron himself.
At E3 2014, the game’s nemesis system was showcased in a brand new trailer. Publisher Warner Bros. highlighted how enemies you encounter or interact with on your journey will remember your face and your decisions later in the game. You might have decided to insult a high-orc at one point of the game. He though will not forget your insolence and may surprise you later in the game with an ambush, or send out assassins after you.
On the second day of E3, GameSpot had a sit down with Michael De Plater, director at Monolith Productions. During his talk, we got treated to a nice long demo that spanned over 25 minutes.
Alongside the video, Plater acted as narrative, quickly highlighting their vision, what players can expect to see and how the game’s storyline will be shaping up as you progress. The demo also showed us plenty of combat, as well as beautiful environments that have carefully been carved in by the developers.
Plater laid heavy emphasis once again on the fact that every single run of the game will be different. You can encounter the same enemy in a dozen different ways.
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is slated to launch on Oct. 7 across all home consoles (Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3) and PC.
