Alien: Isolation E3 Gameplay Trailer Focuses on Stealth Mechanics
Fans of the survival horror genre finally got a chance to try out the upcoming Alien: Isolation developed by Creative Assembly.
The game isn’t just your normal survival horror or space action flick. Gameplay is more oriented towards stealth since a Xenomorph isn’t the only thing out to get Amanda, the protagonist of the game and the daughter of Ellen Ripley from the Alien movies.
The space station Amanda is on isn’t just infested by the Alien, there are some humans on board too who are probably space pirates as well as some androids who were originally there to probably safeguard the space station.
While humans are somewhat easier to take down given you have the ammo or you are willing to take the risk of drawing out the Xenomorph to your location, the other threats on board the space station are much tougher and require a lot of planning.
Crafting is a huge part of the game and with that you can make various items such as Molotovs, flamethrowers or lures to help you survive or distract enemies. Since a lot of focus is on stealth, you can also hide behind objects or under tables and beds in order to get away from some enemy.
The AI of the game seems to be really intelligent in some places but dumb in others. The Xenomorph will not attack other humans no matter how much noise they make but even a slight disturbance by the player will draw it out.
This can however be used to kill the humans, make some noise around them and the Xenomorph will come finish them off.
The game visuals are really superb and the particle effects when you are up close to a fiery object are top notch. The same goes for realistic blood spatters and overall gore content in the game.
Alien: Isolation is set to be released on October 7th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
