Mojang Introducing A New Resident To Minecraft’s Ocean, Can Even Kill The Squid
For those who weren’t afraid of the squid residing in Minecraft’s ocean, well something even more sinister is heading your way.
Minecraft’s lead developer Jens ‘Jeb’ Bergensten has confirmed through his twitter that he is working on something which will make the squid look like a baby elephant as opposed to a mammoth.
The mob I'm working on has a ranged attack and kills squid as well as players. On hard difficulty a full diamond armor is recommended.

While there is no information regarding how the new creature will look like or what it’s called, it sure will be deadly enough to even kill the squid. The creature will have ranged attacks and try to sink a player’s boat from underwater.
Using a diamond armor to tackle the creature is recommended but even that will not make the job easier since the fight will most probably be deep, underwater and last quite a while. For that very purpose, Jeb also recommends players to use a Potion of Water Breathing.
What kind of new tools will we be getting to fight this new monster? Jeb has already confirmed that the sponge block will be added to Survival in version 1.8. As the name suggests, the sponge will soak up water around it so that’s an easy way to kill the new mob granted it doesn’t turn out to be an amphibian.
But exactly how many blocks will it take to soak up an entire ocean? I’m guessing quite a huge number so this might not be a really practical approach.
Let’s hope we get to hear more information regarding this new addition. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
