Tropico 5 Had The Most Successful Launch In Its Series

Publisher Kalypso Media is taking part in a round of bragging, as it has announced that its latest release, Tropico 5, has become the most successful launch in the series. That’s quite the powerful start, as the builder simulation with tactical elements still has some platform versions to release.

Currently, Tropico 5 is only out for PC. With that iteration, Kalypso Media managed to rank at number 2 in the German full-price charts, number 4 in the UK lists and the game managed to snag a top seller spot on Steam as well.

As far as critical response goes, it’s business as usual for the franchise. It stands at a respectable 74 on Metacritic, which is comparable to its predecessor.

Tropico 5 switches up its tropical building game run by a dictator with more eras. Now, players can take on different styles of structures, from more colonial days all the way through to a futuristic age.

In the series, you also manage your economy by trading goods, while keeping your people in check. This can either be done through some helpful policies that make your citizens happy or by less sociable means.

While Tropico 5 is out on PC digitally right now, the retail release is still due on June 17, 2014. It will also launch on Xbox 360 a bit later and receive a Playstation 4 version by the end of the year.
