Sniper Elite V2 is Free on Steam For The Next 24 Hours

For the next 24 hours, Sniper Elite V2 is available on Steam for free, developer Rebellion Developments announced today.

All you need is a Steam account to download a copy of the title by 1 p.m. EDT tomorrow, June 5, and hence make it a permanent addition to your library of games.

The World War II shooter was originally launched in 2012 on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game then arrived in May last year on the Wii U.

It goes without saying that the title is a good experience for those wanting to live up the feel of a veteran sniper during the invasion days. For Rebellion, it’s the most successful game ever.

“We think the loyal Sniper Elite community will welcome some fresh blood on the multiplayer servers, while new players will get to experience the things that make the series unique, and sharpen their skills before the release of Sniper Elite 3,” said Jason Kingsley, co-founder and creative director at Rebellion, in a press release.

Sniper Elite 3 is set to be released June 27 on Windows PC, and July 1 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. A developer Q&A video from a couple of months back showcased how players in the new Sniper Elite 3 will be able to snipe vehicles, such as tanks and jeeps.

The new vehicle takedowns being introduced in the third installment will come complete with the X-Ray Killcam. Shooting a jeep for example, will let you see the insides of the engine as the bullet makes it way through it in slow-motion.
