Defiance is Free-to-Play Now, Existing and New Players Benefits Detailed

By   /   Jun 4, 2014

The sci-fi based persistent world MMO Defiance has gone Free to Play! Trion Worlds has finally taken the leap and now you will be able to join in with your friends for free – that is if you aren’t already an owner of course.

The changes to the game’s monetary structure have come into effect after the Patch 2.0 that has been released today. Here’s how the developer explains how the free to play model is going to enhance the gaming experience for you:

No tricks. No traps. Join scores of new players and wield powerful, customizable, and unique weapons that upgrade as you gain experience in the game that defines MASSIVE CO-OP. Play through and experience the original Bay Area storyline in preparation for new Season 2 crossover content that expands the Defiance universe.

It is also important that the free to play model will only be implemented on the PC version of Defiance. The PS3 and PS4 version of the game will be converted into F2P on July 15.

Owners (digital or boxed) will get the following benefits:

  • Character Slots: 4
  • Loadouts: 5
  • Ark Keycode Maximum: 75
  • Inventory Slots: 70
  • Existing characters will retain any extra inventory slots they have.
  • 30-Day Paradise Patron Pass
  • Grant of 1000 Arkforge
  • Arkforge can be used to refine and upgrade weapons:
  • Reroll weapon mastery bonus
  • Increase power rating
  • Increase rarity

As far as the newcomers are concerned i.e. people who join in after June 3, they will get these benefits:

  • Character Slots: 2
  • Loadouts: 2
  • Ark Keycode Maximum: 50
  • Inventory Slots: 35

Have you been playing Defiance previously? If not, will you be downloading it now that it is free?
