Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal to be Present at E3 For Attendees

By   /   Jun 2, 2014

Sega has confirmed that it will be bringing its Sonic Boom titles on the E3 show floor for attendees to try out.

In a new post on its official website, Sega revealed their final titles to be Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric on the Wii U and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on the 3DS. Both titles will be different from each other in play style, with each offering a unique and captivating storyline.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric will focus mostly on action adventure and team play. Lyric is not the verse from song aged old song but in fact is the name of the villain which you’ll be taking on, a “deadly snake-like ancient” being to be exact. The levels are designed to promote exploration and players will be able to utilize the environment while fighting enemies.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric will have four playable characters, with each having its own set of abilities. However, the game will only support two player local action, which is drop-in drop-out. Although four players can play locally in a special Team Challenges mode.

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on the other hand is an action platformer, and pays homage to the previous classic Sonic titles. The storyline tells how Lyric has kidnapped team member Amy, which gives way to the emergence of the new character Sticks. The 3DS title will feature boss battles, rival races, and plenty of collectibles that can be transferred to the Wii U version through StreetPass.

In a press release Hiroyuki Miyazaki, Chief Content Officer for the Sonic Brand at SEGA of America, said the following:

This is a new Sonic, with gameplay built on action-adventure and collaborative play. They are unlike any previous games featuring the iconic blue blur. We are looking forward to our first hands-on showcase at E3 for fans old and new alike to experience the exploration, combat and new moves for the entire team.
